Surfers Manuel Selman and Hanna Braut won First place in the Open and Beginner surf category at the Cabarete Surfing Warm Up 2010, held March 13 at Bobo’s Point, at Playa Encuentro in Cabarete, Dominican Republic.
The competition was organized by local surfing schools Chino Surf, and Bobo’s Surfs-up School, in conjunction with the Dominican Surfing Federation (FEDOSURF). The event attracted a large number of local and foreign surfers participating in the event.
In the Open Surf category, Manuel Selman a Chilean surfer living in Cabarete, got the win, followed by Junior “Ovejo” Gomez of Rio San Juan in Second place. In third and fourth place were Victor “Bobo” Peralta and Victor Rosario, both from Cabarete.
Beginners in the “Rookie” Surf category, First place went to Hanna Braut, followed by Madeline Ellefsen in Second. Third and Fourth place were Hanne Petre and Nina Ruth. The participants in this category were International Students from Norway, currently living in Cabarete, from the Study-Away Program.
The tournament concluded on Saturday afternoon on the beach, followed by an award ceremony and barbeque at Club Mendy.
